To Mother Catherine M. Schuhmann, CP Mother President of the Monastic Congregation of Passionist Nuns
I was pleased to be informed that the Monastic Congregation of Passionist Nuns are holding their Second General Chapter in May 2025, and I send prayerful good wishes to all the participants.
As you meet during this Jubilee Year, I trust that your gathering will be a time of renewal, rooted in that hope which never disappoints and in the knowledge that the Lord has chosen you to abide in his love in an ever deeper and more intimate way (cf. Jn 15:9). I pray that your deliberations will also confirm your desire to be immersed in the Sacred Passion of Jesus and His Eucharistic Presence, moved by the firm resolution of silent recollection at the service of Almighty God and the universal Church. It is likewise my hope that your meeting will be an opportunity for listening attentively to the Holy Spirit and to each other in order to enhance the bonds of communion that unite you as Sisters.
In this way, faithful to the spirit of Saint Paul of the Cross and the deep spirituality of your Co-Foundress, Venerable Mother Mary Crucified, and impelled joyfully to uphold your contemplative mission, you will surely continue to intercede for the needs of the world, especially that the afflicted may find solace in uniting their sufferings to the Passion of Jesus Christ.
Entrusting the General Chapter to the intercession of Our Lady of Sorrows, I cordially impart my Blessing to all in the Congregation as a pledge of wisdom, joy and peace in the Lord.
